Molla Husrev, one of the most important figures of Ottoman legal history, has written in fields such as Arabic language and literature, poetry and calligraphy. After Molla Fenârî and Molla Fahrettin Acemi, he is accepted as the third sheikh al-Islam of the Ottoman Empire. After the conquest of Istanbul by Mehmet II, he was among those who prepared the program of 'Sahn-i Seman' Madrasahs built around the mosque named after him in this city.
