1st Edition. 8vo. Folding sketch map, 33 photo illustrations, 317pp.Original cloth gilt, spine a little faded, some marginalia in pencil, otherwise a particularly clean copy throughout. The first half of the book is a description of the author's four years in Kashgar amongst the Sarts and Chinese there and the second part is the story of his journey from Kashgar to Kashmir via Yarkand, Karakoram Pass, Leh and Zoji La to Srinagar.
