Prima edizione, postuma. Dalla prefazione: "No country I ever visited interested me so profoundly as Naples. I had long heard its inhabitans spoken with contempt; but when I learnt fully to understand the tyranny of Church and State which has crushed them for centuries [.] I commiserated, but could not despise a people who have frequently struggled for freedom [.]". L'autore morì a Napoli di scarlattina nel 1853. Qualche leggera fioritura, ma esemplare eccellente.
