8vo., Fourth Edition, Second Impression, with 10 coloured plates, 28 monochrome plates and 57 maps and diagrams in the text; original series binding of green buckram, gilt back, a near fine copy in price-clipped dustwrapper. New Naturalist 25. The first edition was published in 1953. The dustwrapper is price-clipped but has the Collins £9.50 sticker. 'Due to the high inflation of this time and the protracted period in print, hardly any copies of this edition exist that have not been price-clipped - in fact I've still to find one. Your copy dates from just before the title went out of print in 1982, and I suspect that there are hardly any other copies with a £9.50 sticker' (Tim Loe; bibliography in preparation).
