Description
8vo., First Edition, with 18 plates of stills on 16; original pictorial wrappers, backstrip lightly chafed at joints else a near fine copy. Tickell's classic account of the wartime experiences of Odette Churchill (nee Sansom) was first published in 1949. This version was published to accompany Herbert Wilcox's well-known feature film starring Anna Neagle, Trevor Howard, and Peter Ustinov. One notable feature of the movie is that Maurice Buckmaster (wartime head of SOE's F Section, which controlled Odette) plays himself. The world premiere of the film at London's Plaza Theatre was attended by King George VI and Queen Elizabeth on 6 June 1950. Scarce in this condition
