Three parts in one volume, 8vo (210 x 150 mm). 258, [2]; 31, [1 blank]; [28] ll. Collation: A-II⁸ KK⁴; AAA-DDD⁸ *-***⁸ ****⁴. 18th-century calf gilt (rather worn, rubbed and stained), lettering piece on spine, red edges. Printer's device on the main title page (phoenix rising from the flames released from an amphora with initials, Latin motto Sempre eadem In fine) within an elaborated architectural framework. Each part opens with a section title. Each canto opens with a woodcut vignette. Several woodcut historiated initials, head- and tail-pieces. Title page and last leaf reinforced, title page and first quire detached, outer margin of several leaves frayed, worm track to the lower blank margin of the first 50 pages, another worm track to the upper margin of several leaves at the center of the volume, upper margin cut short, marginal staining, a modest copy.
Eleventh Giolito edition. It contains all fourty-six cantos of the Orlando Furioso, a sonnet by the editor Lodovico Dolce (1508–1568, a Venetian humanist, man of letters, translator, and editor) in honor of Ariosto (depicted in a woodcut portrait), the five additional cantos, and a glossary compiled by Dolce which includes all the poet's more obscure words and a letter from the editor Gabriel Giolito to the readers.
