Translation by H. Mirabaud Thorens. Preface by Marie Diemer.
Carlos Schwabe interprets Schreiner's text with mystical, biblical visual themes, we find the figure of the angel often present in the artist's work.
The impressive illustrations are engraved by Richer et Cie successors. The drawings sometimes constructed with black, sometimes with white, are of a very great poetry in an art nouveau symbolist style. In full page, in the text, in tailpiece and in initials.
The edition in sheet allows to appreciate the prints at best.
