8vo., First Edition, with a frontispiece and 8 plates; cloth, gilt back, backstrip faded at head and tail else a very good, clean copy in the dustwrapper, the latter chipped at head and tail of backstrip. Meynell's 'Sussex' (1947) was the first - and deservedly one of the most popular - of Hale's celebrated 'County Books' series. The present work brings together much matter excluded from the earlier title 'some of it because it was too personal to be relevant, some because there was not room'.
