First Edition, later impression. 8vo, beautifully bound in full red crushed morocco by Bumpus of Oxford, the spine with raised bands gilt stopped, the compartments with double gilt fillet ruled panels, two compartments lettered in gilt, another dated in gilt, all edges gilt, gilt filleted turnovers. 109 pp An excellent copy, beautifully preserved, the binding and text-block pristine and very fine.
Edizione: service was an interesting character. english born, service emigrated to canada to be come a ìsourdoughî, where his experiences in the yukon and knowledge of the klondike gold rush furnished material for his most popular poems. he went on to write a series of popular ballads, novels, lyrics and autobiographies. this is one of his most famous books and includes perhaps his most famous poem, ìthe shooting of dan mcgrewî and a personal favorite ìthe cremation of sam mcgee.î
