20x13 cm, original brown cloth gilt & dec, 634pp, b&w engravings, Frontispiece and fourteen other plates. 1st ed. Owner's name on enpapers, wear to spine ends and corners, but still a good to very good copy overall. Uncommon. Bombay to Muscat, Bagdad, Turkey, the Gulf to El Kerweik, Baghdad, west to Nisibin, Mount Mardin, Diabekir, Aleppo, and then on to Constantinople. Locher travelled in the caravan of the French attachÈ who intended to purchase Arab horses for Napoleon III.
