Splendida veduta raffigurante l'Anfiteatro Campano o Anfiteatro Capuano - di epoca romana - sito nella città di Santa Maria Capua Vetere - coincidente con l'antica Capua. Secondo per dimensioni soltanto al Colosseo di Roma, per il quale funse verosimilmente da modello, è stato, con ogni probabilità, il primo anfiteatro del mondo romano ad essere stato realizzato. L'opera è incisa da Vincenzo Aloja - sotto la direzione di Georg Abraham Hackert, che ne curò anche la stampa. Si basa su un dipinto originale di suo fratello Jacob Philipp Hackert, pittore di corte di Ferdinando IV, re delle Due Sicilie.
