Rara carta geografica tratta dall'atlante ecclesiastico del Duval dal titolo "Le monde christien ou sont les cartes des archeveschez et des eveschez de l'univers" edito a Parigi, presso l'autore stesso, nel 1662. Pierre Duval fu un geografo, cartografo ed editore francese che lavorò ad Abbeville e a Parigi. Era nipote di Nicolas Sanson, il principale pioniere della cartografia in Francia, dal quale apprese l'arte e le competenze del cartografo. Duval lavorò con lo zio alla corte reale e fu nominato ' Geographe Ordinaire du Roy ' da Luigi XIV nel 1650. Pubblicò un'ampia gamma di atlanti e mappe individuali. Incisione in rame, finemente colorata a mano, in ottimo stato di conservazione. A very rare map is taken from Duval‘s “Le monde christien ou sont les cartes des archeveschez et des eveschez de l‘univers”, the ecclesiastical atlas published in Paris in 1662. ' Pierre Duval was a French geographer, cartographer and publisher who worked in Abbeville and in Paris. He was nephew of Nicolas Sanson, the chief pioneer of cartography in France, from whom he learnt the mapmaker‘s art and skills. Duval worked with his uncle at the Royal Court and was appointed ' Geographe Ordinaire du Roy ' by Louis XIV in 1650. He published a wide range of atlases and individual maps.
