Silografia, acquarellata, mm 255x350 (immagine) su foglio di mm 320x407; testo tedesco, tratta da "Cosmographey", la più importante opera geografica tedesca dopo la Cronaca di Norimberga del 1493. Buon esemplare con qualche alone marginale. Sebastian Muenster (1488-1552) è considerato uno degli umanisti ed eruditi tedeschi più importanti. Fu tra i primi europei a intendersi di lingue e culture mediorientali e pubblicò varie opere di tale argomento oltre che di teologia, geografia e cronologia.<BR>Woodcut, hand colour, mm 255x350 (woodcut) on a sheet of mm 320x407, good copy with marginal surface dirt<BR>Map of Greece by Sebastian Muenster (1488-1552), from "Cosmographiae Universalis" printed for the first time in 1544 by Heinrich Petri, has been updated and increased for several times with new geographic maps and views of cities, it had numerous editions in different languages: latin, italian, french, english and czech. It passed trough 24 editions in about 80 years. This success was due to the notable woodcuts, some by Hans Holbein the younger, Urs Graf, Hans Rudolph Deutsch, and David Kandel. <BR>
