Descrizione

Boston, MA, Crosby and Nichols, 1862. 8vo. xi, 640 pp., one hand-coloured engraved frontispiece and eight further hand-coloured engraved plates, numerous woodcuts in the text. Original blind-tooled pictorial cloth, showing a large gilt moth on both front and rear board. = This work is very well-illustrated, in fact much better than in many similar works aimed a public of farmers and foresters. The coloured plates mainly show butterflies and moths. Bookplate on front paste-down, several plates a bit foxed in the margins, otherwise a good copy of this revised edition.
