Hopkins of the Women's City Club of Boston: "I have just received your very kind letter [.] inviting me to attend a dinner of the Women's City Club of Boston on December 21. I should be very glad to address an important gathering of this character on the subject of our foreign relations, but unfortunately it is not probable that I shall be in this country at that time. I must, therefore, decline your invitation [.]". - On stationery with printed letterhead "Department of State | Washington"; left margin with punched holes (not touching text); slight edge damage and somewhat browned.
