To the writer Edmond About (1828-85), declining his dinner invitation as he is no longer in Paris, having left the city in exasperation with the masons working on the floor above him, planning to see About next winter: "Je ne pourrais pas diner chez vous lundi, mon cher About, parce que je ne suis plus à Paris. J'ai quitté précipitamment 'la nouvelle Athènes' mardi dernier - etant exasperé par les maçons qui travaillent au dessus de ma tête. Donc à l'hiver prochain! [.]". - With pencil note "Flaubert" by a former collector; small marginal flaws.
