Oblong 8vo (postcard). 1 page. Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau: "In Rostock habe ich viele Studien nach alten Backsteinbauten, Toren u. malerischen Winkeln gemacht, denn diese grösste mecklenburgische Stadt ist eine der malerischsten Norddeutschlands [.]". - Starting out painting panoramas and dioramas of Berlin, Leipzig and Dresden as well as city views in the United States, Koch soon turned towards animal painting and was especially fond of horses, depicting them in hunting or battle scenes. - A few small ink spots. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
