Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau: "Mir ist zwar unklar warum Sie mein Autogramm haben wollen, stehe jedoch nicht an, Ihnen dasselbe, gebunden an einen freundlichen Gruß, auch unbekannterweise zuzusenden [.]". - Operating a studio in Berlin, Vogel created decorations for public and ecclesiastical buildings, including two monumental marble statues depicting justice and mercy for the Hamburg city hall, as well as a bronze statue of the Archangel Michael at the protestant St. Michael's church in Hamburg. - Traces of postal stamp; some faint creases, upper right hand corner torn off. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
