Descrizione
This is a very good hardcover copy in a good dust jacket of the first edition of this classic of American architectural theory. The jacket is lightly soiled, especially around the edges, with a few short closed edge-tears. Inside the book is completely clean. This book was the first volume to be published in a acclaimed series by the Museum of Modern Art, called "The Museum of Modern Art Papers on Architecture". It quickly became the most discussed work of Venturi's generation of architects and became controversial immediately. Vincent Scully, the eminent architectural historian at Yale, hailed the book as "probably the most important writing on the making of architecture since Le Corbusier's Vers Une Architecture, of 1923". 350 black & white illustrations. 8vo, 8" high X 6" wide, 144 pages.
