Druckb�gen nicht aufgeschn. - Abu Nuwas (auch al-Hasan ibn Hani' al-Hakami ad-Dimaschqi, 757 - 815), gilt als erster urbaner Dichter der arabischen Literatur und war Hofpoet. In der Swahili-Literatur wird sein Name f�r eine fiktive Narrengestalt verwandt, der teilweise dieselben Geschichten zugeschrieben werden wie dem t�rkischen Nasreddin Hodscha oder dem nordafrikanischen Dschuha. Er lebte zur Zeit des Kalifen Harun ar-Raschid. In 1001 Nacht wird Abu Nuwas als Begleiter des Kalifen erw�t. Diese Epoche gilt als Zeit der klassischen arabischen Literatur mit dem Zentrum Bagdad, damals Hauptstadt Arabiens und Persiens. (Wikipedia). Der vorliegende 3. Born in the city of Ahvaz in modern-day Iran, to an Arab father and a Persian mother, he became a master of all the contemporary genres of Arabic poetry. Abu Nuwas has also entered the folkloric tradition, and he appears several times in The Book of One Thousand and One Nights. The present 3rd volume contains only his wine poems.- Prof. Ewald Wagner (born 1927) was head of the Institute of Oriental Studies at the Justus Liebig University Giessen from 1964-1992.
