Descrizione

Grenoble et Paris, Prudhomme, 1830. 8vo (17.3 x 10.1 cm). Two titles and half-titles, 704 [xii, 148; 544] pp., four folded lithographed plates. Contemporary full sheep. Spine with intricate gilt bands, gilt floral vignettes and title. Marbled endpapers. Speckled edges. = One of the earlier regional floras of France, written by the French botanist and fern specialist Pierre Auguste Victor Mutel (1795-1847). According to the publisher this work is also useful outside the region, as the Dauphiné is rich in plants and only lacks those from costal regions and the Pyrenees. The four plates depict roots, leaves, flowers, and fruits. Some foxing in the text, and on the "roots" plate; the latter also with some marginal fraying and a few short tears, otherwise in very good condition. Stafleu and Cowan, 6594.
