Spines with paper label. = First, and probably only Dutch translation of th influential work "Geologie; oder, Naturgeschichte der Erde auf allgemein fassliche Weise abgehandelt" by the German geologist, Karl Cäsar Von Leonhard (1779-1862). The original German edition was published between 1836 and 1844, and, according to Ward & Carozzi, has 97 plates, apparently differently arranged in this edition, as several plates have more than one figure. This Dutch edition is not in any bibliography. Boards much rubbed, bookblock of the heavy volume III detached, several plates age-toned, pencilled marginalia in volume I, partly following the list of errata, partly new and seemingly made by an editor, perhaps preparing a second edition. In the preface to the second volume, the translator, E. M. Beima, remarks that he took the job only after the first volume was printed. Rare. Ward & Carozzi, 1376 (German edition).
