8vo., Best Edition, with a frontispiece, 19 plates and 9 illustrations, maps and plans in the text, small neat contemporary inscription on front free endpaper; original brown buckram, gilt back, two corners lightly bruised else a very good, clean copy in unclipped, lightly soiled dustwrapper, the latter chipped with minor loss (not affecting lettering) at head and tail of backstrip. Collected by her finest biographer and editor, this outstanding collection of Austen's letters to her beloved sister was first published in two volumes in 1932. In this edition 'a few necessary corrections have been made in the text, a lately-discovered letter has been added, and a more interesting illustration [of Steventon Rectory] subsitiuted for one less interesting'.
