Descrizione

FIRST EDITION OF THIS MASSIVE STUDY OF THE HUAORANI by a capuchin friar who lived among them. 488 pp on coated paper. Profusely illustrated throughout with photographs and maps. THE EDITION WAS DESTROYED SHORTLY AFTER PUBLICATION, AND THIS BOOK HAS BECOME ALL BUT UNOBTAINABLE. WorldCat lists only 12 copies. An interesting association copy from the library of Sarah Begum, a fellow of the Royal Geographic Society who, like the author, was one of very few outsiders who lived among the Huaorani. SIGNED by Begum on the front free endpaper, with a small sketch of a canoe and paddle. Folio. Publisher's laminated boards. Extremities lightly bumped, else FINE AND BRIGHT. Very rare and important.
