Pictures Redrawn from the Original Plates by Yu Tzu-tan. Tall quarto. [454] pp. Profusely illustrated with double-page woodblock illustrations. Text in Chinese and English. Printed on double leaves in the Chinese Style. Original wrappers, paper label on front cover. Title ("Mount Omei") on front cover in English and Chinese. Part of a series issued by the West China Union University, Harvard-Yenching Institute. Very scarce. The double-page plates begin with a Panoramic View of Mount Omei from the South Gate of Omei-hsien to the Summit, showing all the defiles, watercourses, monasteries, peaks, cliffs, and ancient relics which must be passed. The remaining plates provide a look at each of the 72 monasteries of P'u-hsien, showing the architecture, grounds, paths, etc. The corresponding text, in English and Chinese, provides a detailed walking tour with historical annotations.
