8vo., Second Impression thus, with portrait frontispiece, and 22 illustrations (a number full-page) and 37 maps (the majority full-page) in the text, some light offsetting from fold-ins to free endpapers, mild tape-marks on free endpapers, neat contemporary inscription on front free endpaper; black cloth, gilt back, dark top, a near fine copy in unclipped dustwrapper. Published three months after the first edition. One of the most important memoirs to emerge from the German side of WWII. Translated from the German 'Erinnerungen eines Soldaten', it gives for the first time 'the authoritative inside story of the origin and development of the military machine which made possible Hitler's blitzkreig'. ALL EARLY PRINTINGS ARE VERY SCARCE IN THIS CONDITION.
