Original bdg. HC. Oblong large 8vo. (22,5 x 22,5 cm). In English. 96 p., 70 color plates. "This book brings together some seventy Iznik tiles produced in the second half of the sixteenth century. They are grouped broadly according to their dominating motifs. In choosing the tiles included in this book no qualification other than that they should be polychrome and produced during the second half of the sixteenth century has been sought. All of them are underglaze-painted with a transparent colourless glaze. In accordance with the visual objective of the book, in some tiles the discolouration of glaze, stains, nail holes, and other flaws, that possibly occurred as they were transported to the capital or later, have been digitially corrected. In a few cases hiatuses have been eliminated.".
