Descrizione
No marks or inscriptions. A very clean very tight copy with bright unmarked boards, very clear gilt/orange embossing to spine and no bumping to corners. Dust jacket not price clipped or marked or torn or creased with nicks/rubbing to upper edge. 208pp. From the late 1780s to 1824, the cult of prizefighting reigned supreme. It was patronised by royaly and nobility although often illegal. It differed from boxing as fighting took place with bare fists and bouts lasted as long as the fighters could stand - often seventy or more rounds. Severe injury was the rule and sometimes fighters died. Illustrated.
