Philadelphia, PA, The Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia, 1861. In issues. 8vo (24.8 x 15.2 cm). vii, 556, 63 pp.; four lithographed plates, several text figures. Without wrappers (not issued), as published. = The ANSP Proceedings were the foremost zoological journal in the U.S.A., being especially strong in Mollusca. This mainly due to Henry Pilsbry, the most prolific malacological writer ever, and his many predecessors, co-workers, and students. Malacological authors in this early volume (long before Pilsbry) include Gabb, Isaac Lea, Meek [& Worthen], William Stimpson, and George Tryon. But, for instance, also Gill's Catalogue of the fishes of the Eastern Coast of North America, from Greenland to Georgia (with 63, separately numbered pages). Uncut. A very good, complete volume. Rare.
