Rembrandt (suite of signed original drawings by Thierry Le Saëc)

A UNIQUE LIVRE D'ARTISTE / PORTFOLIO OF SEVEN ORIGINAL DRAWINGS ON FINE WOVE PAPER BY THIERRY LE SAËC. The drawings, all of which feature (and respond to) the image of a celebrated etched self-portrait by Rembrandt, are made with graphite, pastel, and collage. Each one is SIGNED IN PENCIL BY THE ARTIST on the verso, and measures 38.5 and 28.5 cm. There is a brief printed text about the book by Maurice Benhamou, and a printed justification / colophon also signed by the artist. THIS IS THE ONLY COPY CREATED: IT IS A COMPLETELY UNIQUE BOOK. It is discussed at length in the very substantial catalogue raisonné / bibliography of Le Saëc's books ("Ce que les images ignorent: Livres d'artiste de Thierry Le Saëc 1989-2005" [Rennes: Bibliothèque de Rennes Métropole, 2006], pp. 38-39). Four drawings from the book are reproduced on p. 39. Folio. Loose as issued in original wraps. The front cover is an ADDITIONAL SIGNED DRAWING by Le Saëc. Housed in the original handmade wooden slipcase, WITH TWO ORIGINAL PAINTINGS BY THE ARTIST ON THE SIDES. (So ten original artworks by Le Saëc in all.) FINE AND BRIGHT, WITH NO DEFECTS.
