With his ownership signature at the top of the title-page. This copy likely from his library in Marshfield, NH. 8vo, contemporary half calf over marbled boards, the spine with flat bands, gilt tooled and lettered. 119p, ad. A handsome and very well preserved copy, the text a bit mellowed as to be expected, the binding strong and well preserved, the rear hinge lightly started.

Edizione: from the library of one of the most prominent statesmen and lawyers of the early american republic. webster served in the house for both new hampshire and massachusetts, he was twice a u.s. senator from massachusetts, served as chair for the senate finance committee, and was secretary of state to both william henry harrison and millard fillmore.
