4to. 14 ff. With architectural woodcut title border. Later chestnut-brown morocco in contemporary style; covers and spine blindstamped; giltstamped title to spine. Second edition (first published in Mantua in 1561). - "A book of morals, discussing love, charity, humility, etc. in separate sections, all developed from faith" (cf. Fürst). Norzi (1520-83), from a wealthy Northern Italian family of bankers, served as Rabbi in Ferrara and Mantua. - Closely trimmed (loss of a few page numbers). Slightly browned; ownership notes on t.p. unattractively obliterated by green ink. Last f. has Hebrew ownership note in ballpoint pen on reverse (with traces of an erased stamp). - Steinschneider 6804, 2. Fürst III, 40. Habermann 51. Not in Adams or BM-STC Italian.
