Leipzig, v. Hase & Koehler, 1933. 8vo (19.0 x 13.2 cm). Frontispiece, 272 pp.; numerous nice drawings after Magnus Weidemann. In original pictorial grey cloth. = A fine copy of the very rare first edition. A later (1942) edition is common, but we have never seen this first edition ever before. Written by the German geologist and palaeontologist Johann Josef Baptist 'Batti' Dohm (1897-1977). The illustrations by the German artist and photographer Magnus Widemann (1880-1967) are quite remarkable - some are funny, such as: "Quicklebendig strampelte Stielauge die Küste entlang", others plainly mysterious. In a fine condition.
