Original illustrated wrappers. 12mo. (17 x 12 cm). In Ottoman script (Old Turkish with Arabic letters). 72, [1] p., b/w plates. Untrimmed copy. Roumi: 1329 = Gregorian: 1913. First and only edition of this rare history of aviation by Ziyad Veli Ebuzziya, printed in his own publishing house. Ebüzziya Velid was a Turkish / Ottoman intellectual, journalist-writer and publisher. He began his journalism career by publishing the Akademi journal when he was a student (1930) and he continued working at Zaman newspaper published by his uncle Velid Ebüzziya (1934) and at several other newspapers and journals. He has also used pseudonyms such as Zahit Turhan, Selim Sabit. He published newspapers such as Tasvir-i Efkâr (1940-46), Tasvir (1945-49), Son Saat (1946-50) of which he was the head writer. He was among the founders of the Democrat Party. He was a candidate in 1946 elections from Konya city, but could not be elected. Ziyad Ebüzziya was among the founders and first members of Board of Trustees of Middle East Technical University (1955-1960). Özege 20150.; TBTK 414.; Not in OCLC.
