Descrizione
8vo., First Edition, with 25 plates on 12, several maps and charts (a number full-page) in the text and a large folding plan on japon; original blue cloth, backstrip lettered in red, a very good, bright, copy in dustwrapper. Still the best account of the Royal Navy's attempt to match the Kaiser's U-boats in WWI. The twin-funnelled 'K-class' boats were the biggest and fastest submarines of WWI but met with a series of tragic mishaps; of the seventeen craft commissioned not one survived disaster. Fisher was moved to exclaim 'I have not yet mastered on what basis our submarines harm the enemy more than themselves!' SCARCE IN THIS CONDITION. Enser, p.342
