8vo., First Edition thus, with numerous illustrations in the text, free endpapers lightly spotted; original burgundy buckram, gilt back, red top, uncut, boards and backstrip mildly sunned (but all gilt wholly legible), else a very good, bright, clean copy. In this the first trade issue three of Kermode's illustrations are different from those in the limited edition; the present arrangement was maintained in all subsequent UK editions.
