First and only edition, small 8vo (156 x 90 mm), [34], 92pp., engraved frontispiece laid-down with slight loss to upper left corner, title a little soiled with some light browning and spotting to text, small hole to E3 effecting a couple of letters, nineteenth-century smooth half calf, marbled boards, slightly rubbed otherwise a nice copy. This is the second book in English devoted to this controversial sport, written at a time when cock-fighting was a revered activity. It was only preceded by William Machrieís ëAn Essay upon the Royal Recreation and Art of Cockingí, 1705. Included at the end are five poems in praise of the sport, including one by Sir Richard Blackmore. A rare work which seldom appears in commerce; ESTC gives just 2 locations in the UK and 5 in North America.
