About the book:-This book consist of 3 volumes, not only on the antiquity of Travancore but also of various other features of the place. The precious work mainly on history also contains physical features, geology, climate, rainfall, meteorology, flora, fauna and archaeology of the Travancore State in detail. There are many picture of stone inscriptions collected from various parts of the kingdom. It also mention maritime trade records of ancient time. There are other details on items such as early missionaries, neighbouring kingdom, accounts of travels, Portuguese in Malabar and Travancore, Ettuvittal Pillamar, Marthanda Varma, Zomorin, small kings and kingdoms north of Travancore, small-time rulers of Malabar, the attacks and occupation attempts by Tipu Sultan, one of the rebellions namely, Velu Thampi Dalawa in dealt with in details. About all rulers of Travancore since reign of king Marthanda Varma are dealt in reasonable detail, king Rama Varma also known as Swathi Thirunal tragic life has been mentioned.
