Paris, J. B. Baillière et Fils, 1908. Large 8vo (24.5 x 16.2 cm). xviii, 316 pp.; 30 plates and maps. Slightly later half buckram over marbled boards. Spine with gilt title. Marbled endpapers. = Important zoogeographical, ecological, malacological, and entomological contributions based on the gatherings of the French zoologist Henri Gadeau de Kerville, (1858-1940), who wrote the introduction and a narrative of the expedition, and the general list of species with notes on fish, mammals, etc. Also included are contributions by Attems (Myriapoda, 26 pp.), Louis Germain (Mollusca, 165 pp.), Bolivar (the turtle, Testudo ibera, 8 pp.) and Blanchard (Hiridunae, 6 pp.). The first plate is a map of the region, the next 18 show landscapes and people. Molluscs are on plates 22-30. Inscribed and signed on the second blank recto, by the author "À mon très-distingué collègue . F. X. Gillot .". Below, a stamp of the American malacologist Richard Irwin Johnson (1925-2020). François Xavier Gillot 91842-1910) was a French medical doctor and mycologist. A very good, and unique copy. Well-bound copies, such as this one, are very uncommon.
