Berlin, G. Reimer, [1832]. Two volumes in one. 4to (25.4 x 21.3 cm). 26 [22, 4] pp., 18 [16, 2] engraved or lithographed plates, of which five partly hand-coloured. Contemporary blind boards. = The very rare quarto atlas to Hermann Burmeister's famous Handbuch der Entomologie which was published between 1832 and 1855 in five octavo volumes and which is seldom seen complete. From the second title it is obvious that Burmeister (1807-1892) played with the idea of publishing more plates but decided otherwise; this is the complete atlas. The colouring is neatly done. Board extremities rubbed, small old stamp of private collector Dr. Focke on front paste-down. A gathering of old libraries' stamps on the first title page.
