Descrizione
12mo (80 x 137 mm). 227, (1) pp. Modern marbled boards. First edition of this scarce little work on "Asiatic ambrosia; or, Concerning the virtue and use of the herb 'Tea' or 'Cia'". Noted as the first to refute Simon Paulii's theory that the Dutch myrtle plant was the European relation of the oriental tea plant. - Some dampstaining throughout and slight traces of worming to first few leaves; rather closely trimmed at the head. The blank verso of the last leaf has a contemporary Italian physician's ownership inscription in ink: "Jo. Franciscus Jacobus Phys. Bacigalupo noto". Rare; we trace no examples in auctions records. - Vicaire 600. Mueller p. 148.
