8vo., First Edition, with a frontispiece, 11 coloured plates (several of flies and hackles; all with original tissue guards present), 3 plates in monochrome with original tissue guards, and a double-page plate and 9 illustrations in the text, contemporary signature and address on front free endpaper; original pictorial ivory buckram, upper boards blocked and lettered in gilt, gilt back, gilt top, uncut, covers moderately age-stained as usual, corners lightly bruised else a firm, clean copy. A second edition of this angling classic appeared in 1894; both editions are scarce in any condition. Westwood & Satchell (Supp), p. 252.
