Two issues of the "Gulf Mirror", at the time of its founding in 1971 the only weekly English language newspaper in the Gulf. - Published in Bahrain, the Gulf Mirror catered to English-speaking foreigners, many of whom had arrived to work in the oil industry, or the numerous infrastructure, engineering, and manufacturing roles which opened up with the huge mid-century modernization boom among the Gulf states. Articles announce progress on a Bahrain, Saudi Arabia highways, the effects of striking Indian dock workers on Gulf imports, and even a UFO sighting in Abu Dhabi. A wide-ranging publication, with interesting primary source material on public projects, politics, and business deals in Bahrain and the UAE, as well as sports, leisure, and international news from a Gulf perspective. - Standard creasing, a few hints of smudging; in excellent condition.
