Original blind blue wrappers. = Rare edition of the Suites à Buffon, first published in the early 19th century and here in the last edition corrected by Latreille. In fact, Latreille wrote most of it, as Sonnini was responsible only for the part on amphibians and the preliminary discourse (Adler). The plate order is erratic but all plates are close to the relevant descriptive text pages. Volume 1 contains plates 1, 3, 2, 4-10, 15, 11-13; volume 2: 14, 16-20, 48-51, 41-47, 52-54; vol. 3: 39, 23, 38, 40, 24-25; vol. 4: 26-33, 35, 34, 36-37, 21-22. Rear wrapper of fourth volume lacking, the others showing wear; some damp-staining, sewing weak, a few bookblocks nearly split. Contents, however, complete. Adler I, p. 19; Nissen ZBI, 3901.
