Illustrated edition of compositions by Rochegrosse: 25 etched plates in 3 states, 24 headbands, 24 decorated letters, 24 colored woodcuts.
EXCEPTIONAL COPY. Special edition reimposed on Grand Papier de Hollande Van Gelder “Les Vingt” numbered in Roman numerals containing 3 states of the etchings including pure aqua frort. Accompanied by 8 plates in the text enhanced with color on Japanese paper giving the illusion of original watercolors.

If Georges Rochegrosse had not decided to retire, to illustrate only one more work, we would most likely have entrusted him with the Iliad and the Odyssey. But this great artist did not want to give up and having chosen the Odyssey, we accepted his way of seeing, and the development of Homer's second masterpiece is finished. Four years were necessary to complete such a work and its very important documentation.

It will be difficult to detail the life and work of Georges-Antoine Rochegrosse (married to Marie Rochegrosse https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marie_Rochegrosse), so vast is it. Symbolist and orientalist painter, lover of Algeria and member of the society of French orientalist painters and professor at the Académie Druet. He was successful during his lifetime and his work as an illustrator and painter is immense.
