Two parts in one volume, folio (350x230 mm). [36], 427 pp., 428-499 cols., [29], 380, [24] pp. Collation: α-γ6 δ4 a-z6 A-P6 Q4 R-S6 2α2 A-Zz6 AA-HH6 II4 KK-LL6. Printer's device on general title page and at the end. Section title for the second part (Odyssea) at l. 2α1. Later half calf, panel covered by a marbled paper, red sprinkled edges (worn and rubbed). Owneship entries by A.M. Seguin “avocat à Lyon”, who bought the book on April 10, 1715, and several reading signs and notes in his hand throughout the volume. Large restoration to the upper outer corner of the general title page not affectng the text, ownerhsip entries on the general title page partly erased, heavily browned throughout.
Early 17th-century edition of Homer's collected works (Iliad, Odyssey, Batrachomyomachia and Hymni) in the original Greek and in Latin translation accompanied by the commentary of Jean de Sponde. The edition also includes the so-called ‘Latin Iliad', a brief abridgment of Homer's Iliad conventionally attributed to Baebius Italicus (also known as Pindarus Thebanus), as well as the De bello Troiano by Dares Phrygius in the Latin version by Cornelius Nepos.
