Due to the very old age and scarcity of this book, some pages are missing and may be hard to read due to the blurring of the original text. About the Book: - The comprehensiveness of this gazetteer lies in the fact that it succeeds in including all the possible aspects of the district, including the physical description, political history, the people and the races, agriculture and irrigation, the people, forests, occupation, education, land revenue, local self-government and a Gazetteer in volume I while volume II is contain with statistical appendix. This Gazetteer has been prepared on the plan prescribed by the Government according to which statistics have been relegated as far as possible to a separate Appendix which is to be revised decennially. The book is the product of extensive study of Godavari district. The subject of the book is very interesting. There is no statement in the book to which exception may justly be taken. The statistical appendix in the second volume has carried immense value. Tough the book is a rare one, it may be recognized even by those who dissent from the author’s point of view.
