Descrizione
4to (210 x 270 mm). 48 pp. With a folding map of the Arabian Gulf, numerous black-and-white photos and colour illustrations throughout. Special issue of the "Born in Battle" magazine, providing an introduction to the Arabian Gulf and its armed forces, discussing Iran, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the Federation of Arab Emirates, Oman and Iraq. The Federation, consisting of Bahrain, Qatar and the seven Emirates, was not a major player in military terms, yet the magazine acknowledges the importance of the military airbase at the former RAF station in Sharjah. The illustrations show aircraft and helicopters, tanks, Soviet Navy submarines countering the US naval presence on the Gulf, area surveillance stations and even a group of vast oil-storage tanks at Ras Tanura, Saudi Arabia. - "Born in Battle" was an Israel-published magazine that covered military and defence matters. It was notable during its run for focusing primarily on Israeli and Middle East military subjects, both historical and current for the year of its publication. - Minor edge wear, otherwise in very good condition. - OCLC 9939971.
