Descrizione
Second American edition. With a photographic frontispiece. 8vo, publisher’s original buff tan cloth lettered in red and with a red swastika on both the spine and the upper cover. viii, 297 pp. An unusually well preserved copy of this scarce and early printing of MEIN KAMPF into English. Internally fine with just a little light and unobtrusive mellowing to the endpapers and prelims, otherwise extremely clean and fresh, the binding is solid and sound with firm hinges, the cloth with virtually no wear but with some minor general soiling, understandable for such a light colour of cloth.
Edizione: rare, and arguably one of the most impactful books of the 20th century, this is second american printing, still dated 1933 by the original publisher, though released approximately four years after the first printing of hitler's autobiographical manifesto of the nazi ideology, post wwi germany, and his future plan for germany and the world order.<br> the writing of the first part of the book was done in 1924 while hitler was under detention in the fortress of landsberg am lech, after the unsuccessful munich uprising of the previous year. it was published in germany in the autumn of the year in which it was written and followed by a second part in 1927. it became the most revered written work of the national socialist party of germany and a guide for the movement which visited the most extreme horrors on the world during the 20th century. when this edition was published, the magnitude of nazi atrocities against human life had not yet hit the world with full force; hitler was considered a dangerous political figure, but was not yet demonized as he would be in the postwar years. nevertheless, the fascination with his brilliance and his smoldering potential to wreak havoc consumed europe as they devoured this influential book to understand better the forces they were facing in battle, and perhaps to experience the chilling effect of understanding the mind of their enemy. while it is one of the most important works penned during the century, it is one that will forever live in infamy.
