Emilio Pucci (1914- 1992) was born in Naples, Italy to one of Italy's oldest noble families. He would live out his life in Florence in the Palazzo Pucci. In 1965 when Braniff Airways asked Alexander Girard to give them a makeover, Girard hired Pucci to design the stewardesses outfits or uniforms as they were then called. They became so popular that by 1968 America's most famous doll, Barbie, had four Pucci outfits. Illustrated in black & white and color. The color plates show Pucci's signature geometic patterns and color contrasts. The black & white photographs show the various celebrities and pop stars wearing Pucci outfits.
